Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of Ayodhya’s Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, passed away on Wednesday at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Lucknow, as confirmed by the hospital. The 83-year-old priest had been admitted on February 3 after suffering a brain stroke. He was also dealing with serious health issues like diabetes and high blood pressure.

According to the hospital, “Satyendra Das ji, the chief priest of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, passed away today. He was admitted to the Neurology ward’s High Dependency Unit (HDU) on February 3 in critical condition after suffering a stroke.”

A day after his stroke, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited him at SGPGI to check on his health.
