NMC Announces Requirement for Additional Qualification Certificates

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a notification instructing medical aspirants to pay the required fee for obtaining Additional Qualification (AQ) certificates. These certificates are issued to medical practitioners who have completed additional qualifications, including higher medical education, from the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS).

According to the NMC, applicants who wish to obtain AQ certificates from the NMC must first pay the prescribed fee through NBEMS’s Miscellaneous Fee Payment Portal. After completing the payment, applicants must submit a legible copy of the payment receipt in the online AQ application under the ‘Relevant PG document, if any’ section.

    Payment for AQ requests

The NMC emphasised that the verification of AQ requests will only proceed once the payment is successfully received by NBEMS. The commission will then forward the request for verification of the additional qualification(s) to NBEMS.

The NMC issues AQ certificates to registered medical practitioners who have earned higher qualifications under Section 26 of the Indian Medical Council (IMC) Act, 1956, in conjunction with Section 61(2) of the NMC Act, 2019. The certificates are issued after thorough verification of the qualifications by the relevant educational institutes, including NBEMS.

    Credential Verification Online Portal

Recently, NBEMS announced that credential verification for qualifications issued by the board will now be conducted through its “Credential Verification Online Portal (CVOP).” This portal, available on the NBEMS website under the “Digital Services” tab, will handle all verification processes once the necessary fee is paid via the Miscellaneous Fee Payment Portal.

Medical practitioners seeking to obtain AQ certificates should ensure they complete the payment process as instructed to avoid delays in the verification and certification process.

Spy Camera Found Inside Play School’s Washroom, Director Arrested

The director of a play school in Thana Phase-3 area here has been arrested allegedly after a spy camera was found in the bulb holder of the school’s washroom, police said on Tuesday.

A teacher at the play school told police that when she went to the school washroom on December 10, she noticed something suspicious in the bulb holder and found a spy camera installed in it, they said.

When she informed the school’s director Navnish Sahay about this, he allegedly did not take any step in this regard and also did not give any reply to her, they said.

The complainant claims that when she spoke to the security guard, he told him that the director had got this camera installed, the police said.

During a probe, police found that Sahay had ordered the spy camera online. Following this, he was arrested and a case registered against him, a police officer said.

The school teacher also claimed that even before this, she had found a spy camera in the school’s washroom and she had given it to the director, the officer said.

  • Why Cheese Spread Is Better Than Mayonnaise?

Why Cheese Spread Is Better Than Mayonnaise?

Cheese spread and mayonnaise are both popular choices for spreading on bread or adding flavor to dishes, but cheese spread has several advantages that make it the better option
Cheese spread is packed with calcium and protein, which are essential for healthy bones and muscles. Mayonnaise, on the other hand, is mostly oil and lacks these nutrients
Compared to mayonnaise, many cheese spreads have fewer calories per serving, making them a better choice for those watching their weight
Cheese spread has a creamy yet savory flavor that pairs well with many dishes, from sandwiches to crackers. Mayonnaise tends to have a one-dimensional taste that isn’t as versatile
Cheese spread often comes in a sealed container that lasts longer in the fridge compared to mayonnaise, making it a more convenient option
Cheese spread melts beautifully, making it ideal for hot dishes like pasta, baked potatoes, or casseroles. Mayonnaise is less versatile in hot recipes
  • IIT Bombay Campus Doctor Refuses Treatment To ‘IIIT Chennai’ Students At Techfest, Raises Questions About College Healthcare Policies

IIT Bombay Campus Doctor Refuses Treatment To ‘IIIT Chennai’ Students At Techfest, Raises Questions About College Healthcare Policies

The 28th edition of the much-awaited IIT Bombay (IIT-B) Techfest kicked off on Tuesday, attracting a huge crowd with its showcase of cutting-edge innovations and technology. But while the event was buzzing with excitement, an incident involving two students from IIIT Chennai has sparked outrage and debate on social media.

A Shocking Experience in IITB’s Hospital

One of the IIIT Chennai students, who had come to participate in the competitions, shared a distressing experience on Reddit about the healthcare facilities at IIT Bombay. He recounted how his friend, suffering from a high fever, was refused treatment at the campus hospital simply because they were from IIIT Chennai, not IIT Bombay.

In his post, he expressed his frustration:

‘Im here (in IITB) for participating in some competitions in Techfest. My friend was really sick with high fever and body weakness, so I took him to the hospital which is in IITB itself. The attending doctor and nurses didn’t care about who was the patient. They just went, ‘Are you from IIT? Are you from IIT?’ (in Hindi). I replied, ‘We’re from IIIT Chennai,’ and they thought we were from IIT Chennai. They sat us down, and I told them my friend’s symptoms and got his temperature checked. It was 104 degrees.”

The situation continued to worsen as the doctor asked for their IIT registration details:

“The doctor then said, ‘Give me his IIT registration number and ID card’ (in Hindi). We gave it, and this old, not at all gentleman was really mad because we lied about being from IIT and wasted his time. Like, what’s wrong with doctors? I thought being a doctor meant committing to helping people with their sufferings?”

He went on to express how both the doctor and the nurses reacted negatively:

“The nurses over there were also really mad. Like, wow. The doctor then said, ‘This is only for IITians and not for anyone else,’ to which I replied, ‘So only IITians are allowed to get treated here?’ He goes, ‘Yeah, that’s the rule. I have no obligation to treat people who aren’t IITians. You go to some other external hospital.’”

    Doctors Should Help, Not Judge

The student’s post quickly gained traction, with many expressing their anger at the treatment his friend received. He questioned the doctor’s attitude, saying,”Doctors should be doctors, not businessmen. Either change your attitude or profession, Mr. Not At All Gentleman.”

The student’s frustration was evident as he shared how his friend was in severe discomfort, but the medical staff refused to offer basic care.

The post struck a chord with many, especially those who believed healthcare should be available to all, irrespective of which institution one belongs to.

    Mixed Reactions on Reddit

The incident quickly became a topic of discussion on Reddit, with users sharing divided opinions. Some criticized IIT Bombay’s policies and the lack of facilities for external students during the event, while others defended the institution’s stance.

One user commented, This is a horrible protocol, but back in my day, the health center had clear policies about who could be treated. It was mainly due to insurance policies, skill sets, and reporting requirements. I would have hoped things improved, but it seems like some practices at IITs never change.”

However, another user offered a different perspective, saying, “You could have gone to the hospital just outside the campus. It’s only five minutes away. The campus hospital is meant for students, staff, and faculty of IITB. It’s not for outsiders, just like how army canteens are only for army personnel.”

    Understanding the Doctor’s Position

Some Reddit users attempted to justify the doctor’s behavior, stating that the doctor works in an OPD (outpatient department) and his time is valuable, particularly when he is compensated based on the number of visitors he treats. According to this view, the doctor may have felt his time was “wasted” treating someone from outside IITB.

One Reddit user explained, “The hospital staff likely sees their work as catering to IITB residents, and if you’re not part of the community, they may feel it’s not their responsibility to treat you. However, the event management team should have ensured that external students had access to proper medical facilities.”

As the conversation continues, one thing remains clear: when it comes to healthcare, there should be no boundaries, especially for students participating in events meant to foster innovation and collaboration.

  • Congress demands resignation of Amit Shah

Congress demands resignation of Amit Shah

New Delhi: The Congress on Wednesday demanded the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah for his remarks in the Rajya Sabha which it claimed were an insult to B R Ambedkar.

The opposition party also demanded that Shah should apologise publicly and in Parliament for his remarks.

Speaking with reporters in Parliament premises, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said, “We demand resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah for ‘insulting’ Ambedkar; he should apologise to the nation.”

Addressing a press conference, Congress MP Neeraj Dangi said his party demands Shah’s apology for the remarks.

“In Rajya Sabha, Amit Shah Ji said that taking the name of Babasaheb Ambedkar Ji has become a fashion. This is a direct insult to the Dalits of the country and Babasaheb,” he said.

Shah has shown the whole country what kind of thinking BJP leaders have, he said.

“The deprived and exploited class, which they have insulted, this is the same class which will reduce them from 240 to 40,” Dangi said.

“On behalf of the Congress party, I demand that Amit Shah ji should apologize publicly and in the House. Considering what he has said about Babasaheb Ambedkar, he has lost the right to hold a constitutional post,” Dangi said.

He should resign from the post of Home Minister, he said.

The Congress on Tuesday alleged that Shah’s remarks in the Rajya Sabha during a debate on the Constitution show that the BJP and the RSS leaders have a “lot of hatred” for Ambedkar and demanded an apology from him.

Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi had said those who believe in Manusmriti will definitely be at odds with Ambedkar.

Congress general secretary-in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh had shared a video snippet on X from Shah’s speech in the upper house.

“Abhi ek fashion ho gaya hai – Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar. Itna naam agar bhagwan ka lete to saat janmon tak swarg mil jata (It has become a fashion to say Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar’. If they had taken God’s name so many times, they would have got a place in heaven),” Shah had said, taking a swipe at the opposition.

The home minister attacked the Congress in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, saying the party treated the Constitution as the “private fiefdom” of one family and “played fraud” with Parliament.

Concluding a two-day debate on the “Glorious Journey of 75 Years of the Constitution of India“, Shah ripped into the Congress for its appeasement politics and claimed that the party wanted to breach the 50 per cent quota limit to provide reservation to Muslims.

He also asked the Congress if it supported the Muslim personal law and alleged that the party never worked for the welfare of the backward classes. Shah asserted that the BJP has already brought in a common civil code (Uniform Civil Code) in Uttarakhand and will implement it in all states.

‘Congress Took Small Clip From Amit Shah’s Speech, Distorted It & Made It Viral,’ Says Union Minister Kiren Rijiju

New Delhi: As the Opposition intensified its protest over Amit Shah’s remarks on BR Ambedkar in Rajya Sabha, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday alleged that the Congress had taken a small clip from the speech, distorted it and made it viral.

Addressing the media after the adjournment of both houses, Rijiju asserted that Babasaheb Ambedkar will always remain revered by them.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju On The Row

“Congress should first answer why, in 1951, Babasaheb Ambedkar had to resign from Nehru’s cabinet. Congress and its allies have taken a small clip from Amit Shah’s speech in the Rajya Sabha yesterday, distorted it, and made it viral. I want to condemn it. Yesterday, Amit Shah clearly stated how Congress humiliated and disrespected Ambedkar while he was alive. I want to refute this distorted clip that is being circulated today,” he said.

“I condemn the ‘nautanki’ of Congress party where they are seen holding the portrait of Ambedkar Ji,” he added.

This came after Amit Shah lashed out at the Congress party and said that it had become a ‘fashion’ for the party to take Ambedkar’s name.

“If they had taken the name of God so many times instead of Ambedkar then they would have got heaven for seven lives,” Shah said.

Opposition MPs Hold Protest In Parliament

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, MPs including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Varsha Gaikwad, Kumari Selja, AAP MP Sanjay Singh, RJD MP Manoj Sinha along with others participated in the protest.

The Opposition MPs were seen carrying pictures of Babasaheb Ambedkar. They have alleged that Amit Shah insulted Ambedkar in his speech yesterday.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge Demands Amit Shah’s Resignation

Speaking on it, Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister.

“When Amit Shah was talking about Dr BR Ambedkar, he said ‘you people keep chanting the name of Ambedkar 100 times, if you took the name of God these many times, you would have gone to heaven 7 times’. This means that taking the name of Baba Saheb Ambedkar is a crime and his intention was to oppose the Constitution made by Baba Saheb Ambedkar. I opposed to this but I was not given the opportunity…Since proceedings of the House on Baba Saheb Ambedkar were underway, I decided to remain silent…I demand his resignation,” Kharge said.

  • NGT Criticises MCGM’s Vague Affidavit On Tree Felling, Orders Detailed Report On Loss Of 21,000 Trees

NGT Criticises MCGM’s Vague Affidavit On Tree Felling, Orders Detailed Report On Loss Of 21,000 Trees

Mumbai: The National Green Tribunal (NGT), in its recent order on the issue of tree felling, expressed dissatisfaction with the affidavit filed by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), criticizing it for lack of clarity and seriousness. The tribunal has directed the MCGM to file a clear and detailed affidavit within two months, stating the exact number of trees cut in the last six years, along with proof thereof.

The tribunal’s intervention came after it took suo motu cognizance of a news report published in March 2024 titled, “Mumbai lost over 21,000 trees in 6 years to make way for Metro, road projects.”

The report highlighted the felling of approximately 21,208 trees over six years for metro and road projects, contributing to rising pollution levels in Mumbai. It further revealed that out of 4,338 trees transplanted across nine wards, only 22% (963 trees) survived.

The Mumbai City Collector, in its affidavit, stated that the issue pertains to the felling of trees over the last six years for metro and road projects, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Tree Authority of MCGM.

In response, the MCGM submitted an affidavit on November 13, 2023, citing compliance with the Maharashtra (Urban Areas) Preservation and Conservation of Trees Act, 1975. It mentioned that:

An NOC was issued for cutting 138 trees, transplantation of 339 trees, and preservation of 1,298 trees for the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project.

The GMLR project, which includes an underground tunnel in Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP), Borivali, was approved by the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) with all required conditions. The project does not attract the provisions of the EIA Notification, 2006.

However, the NGT was unconvinced with the affidavit, stating it failed to address the issue raised in the news report regarding the exact number of trees cut over six years.

The NGT order reads: “We are not satisfied with the above affidavit filed by the MCGM. It does not show anything about the issue involved in the present case… Therefore, we direct MCGM to file a clear affidavit, stating therein the exact number of trees cut, along with proof thereof, to be submitted within two weeks from the date of uploading of this order.”

While reprimanding the MCGM for its routine response, the tribunal further stated: “We also find that the affidavit filed by the MCGM is a routine one, saying that the appellant is not entitled to any relief when the cognizance of the news item has been taken by this Tribunal. Therefore, the MCGM should be sincere and serious in future while filing affidavits before us.”

  • Shraddha Kapoor Loses Cool After Journalist Asks If She’s Dating Someone At Delhi Event, Video Viral

Shraddha Kapoor Loses Cool After Journalist Asks If She’s Dating Someone At Delhi Event, Video Viral

In a rare instance, Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor was seen losing her cool at an event in Delhi, after a journalist posed a question to her about her dating life. The actress, who was evidently irked, indirectly asked the journalist if it was the right platform for his question.

Shraddha attended the Agenda AajTak event in Delhi on Saturday, and during a conversation, the journalist mentioned, “We asked Kartik Aaryan which heroine he would want to date, and your name was one of the four options. But Kartik said that all four are dating someone or the other… He’s the one who spilled the beans. So is he right?”

Shraddha, who looked unimpressed by the personal question, then sarcastically asked, “Hum sach mein Agenda AajTak mein aaye hai na?”

When the journalist repeated that it was Kartik who said it first, Shraddha replied, “Okay, so he said what he had to. Do you have a question here for me?”

The journalist then went on to ask, “Are you dating someone?” Visibly irritated by then, Shraddha responded, “Pakka Agenda AajTak mein hai hum? Pakka? Are you sure?”

The moderator then took charge of the situation by changing the topic, and the actress too was seen calming down after the altercation.

A video of the incident is now doing the rounds on the internet and fans of the actress said that she handled the situation pretty well.

Meanwhile, Shraddha recently grabbed eyeballs after she stepped out for a vadapav date with her rumoured boyfriend, Rahul Mody. A few months ago, reports had gone viral that they had broken up, but with her latest social media post, she quashed those reports.

On the work front, Shraddha starred in one of the highest grossing films of the year, Stree 2, alongside Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana and others. She will be next seen headlining the supernatural thriller, Naagin.
