  • India should show its glorious way of life to world: Bhagwat

India should show its glorious way of life to world: Bhagwat

Pune: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has said it is India’s prime responsibility to present its glorious way of life to the world so that others can follow and attain happiness and prosperity.

Dharma, which is the foundation of everyone’s life, must be preserved and awakened as per the changing times, he further said.

The essence of Indian ethos lies in ensuring the well-being of all, Bhagwat said at the inauguration of the Moraya Gosavi Sanjivan Samadhi ceremony in Pimpri Chinchwad industrial township near Maharashtra’s Pune city on Tuesday.

“It is everyone’s responsibility to maintain balance and patience to ensure the smooth functioning of the world order. In Indian culture, there has always been a tradition of returning to nature. In today’s terms, this can be described as ‘giving back’,” he said.

“The structure of our dharma is built on this principle of ‘giving back’. Our ancestors recognised and practised it as nature itself works on this aspect,” Bhagwat said.

He said our ancestors not only understood the concept of balance in dharma but also led by example, demonstrating how to live peacefully while ensuring harmony and progress for all.

“This dharma ensures the well-being and progress of all, which is why India must survive, grow and lead the way. It is India’s prime responsibility to show to the world its glorious way of life so that others can follow and attain happiness and prosperity,” he said.

The RSS chief said dharma works to keep the society safe and prosperous.

“It unites and elevates, and does not give space to extremism. This dharma, which is the foundation of everyone’s life, must be preserved, and it should be awakened according to the changing times and circumstances,” he said.

The entire structure of the world is based on conflict, Bhagwat said.

“For the past 2,000 years, our lives have been influenced by prevailing ideologies. While these have increased conveniences, they have also given rise to constant strife. Therefore, our ancestors adopted the eternal Sanatan Dharma, which, based on spirituality, makes material life harmonious. The sense of belonging inherent in it is the foundation of the universe,” he said.

Dharma guides the lives of individuals, society and nature towards the supreme being, Bhagwat said.

“This dharma, which is the foundation of society’s unity, must manifest through our actions,” he said.

Stating that change is the only constant and situations are dynamic, the RSS chief narrated a story about a king and his minister who had a habit of saying – ‘This too shall pass’.

One day, the king returned to his kingdom after conquering the world and was celebrated by his people. Amidst the praise and jubilation, the minister quietly remarked – ‘This time shall also pass’. The king, though angered by the comment, chose not to react.

Sometime later, the king and his minister ventured into a jungle for hunting. During the hunt, the king was attacked by a wild animal. Though the king managed to kill it, the animal severely injured his thumb. As the people praised his bravery, the minister once again said, ‘This time shall also pass’.

Days later, a revolt broke out in the kingdom, and both the king and the minister were imprisoned. While in jail, the king recalled the minister’s words. Eventually, some loyalists managed to free the king and the minister, and they escaped into the jungle. But they were captured by a tribe that practised human sacrifice.

On examining them, the tribe released the king because of his missing thumb and the minister because of a physical deformity, as imperfect humans were not deemed suitable for sacrifice.

“At that moment, the king realised the wisdom of the minister’s words- that good and bad situations are transient and nothing in life is permanent,” Bhagwat said.

The RSS chief described Lord Ganesh as the epitome of inclusiveness and balance.

“Lord Ganesh’s large abdomen symbolises tolerance for everyone’s deeds, while his big ears signify his ability to listen to all. His long trunk represents his capacity to sense and respond to every situation,” he said.

UP Yoddhas Brush Aside Table Toppers Haryana Steelers After An Impressive Win On Tuesday

The UP Yoddhas secured another important win to keep their playoff hopes alive as they beat Haryana Steelers 31-24 at the ongoing Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) at the Balewadi Sports Complex on Tuesday.

According to a release from PKL, Bhavani Rajput was the man-of-the-hour with his 11 points as the team coached by Jasveer Singh moved to third on the points table, staying unbeaten in their seventh straight match.
The Haryana Steelers started in a very impressive manner after Vinay was successful in a do-or-die raid to get Sumit and Mahender Singh.

But the UP Yoddhas entered the fray after Mohammadreza Kaboudrahangi tackled Shivam Patare and then Bhavani Rajput got Sanjay while Mohammadreza Shadloui stepped out of the end line, as the UP Yoddhas equalled the score.

A tackle on Vinay meant that the Haryana Steelers were left with just Jaideep Dahiya and Rahul Sethpal on the mat. But they won a very impressive Super Tackle to send Bhavani Rajput off the mat and kept the pressure on their opponents.

The first half was a closely contested affair, with both teams displaying exceptional skill and strategy. The game-changing moment came when Bhavani Rajput executed a spectacular Super Raid, escaping multiple tackles and ultimately leading to an all-out that levelled the scores.

Vishal Tate and Shivam Patare made significant contributions to the Haryana Steelers, while Bharat Hooda and young Sahil tried to keep UP Yoddhas in the contest. At the half-time break, UP Yoddhas held a slim 15-13 lead, setting the stage for an electrifying second half. A shift in momentum saw that UP Yoddhas nullified the threat of the table toppers.

In the third quarter of the clash, the Haryana Steelers were restricted to just three points in comparison to the 11 points scored by the UP Yoddhas. This was courtesy of another all-out by Bhavani Rajput, who got N Manikandan and Rahul to dismantle the Haryana Steelers. Bhavani then brought up his Super 10 in style after getting Mohammadreza Shadloui and Rahul Sethpal off the mat.

It was enough to give their team an unassailable lead, as they took one step closer to a place in the playoffs. For the Haryana Steelers, their semi-final aspirations had to take a back step as they suffered a second-straight defeat, this time by 7 points.

Country will not tolerate Ambedkar’s insult: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said the country will not tolerate Babasaheb Ambedkar’s insult and demanded that Home Minister Amit Shah should apologise for his remarks in the Rajya Sabha.

Several MPs of the INDIA bloc, including Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, staged a protest in Parliament premises demanding Shah’s apology for his remarks which they claimed were an insult to B R Ambedkar.

Sharing pictures from the protest, Gandhi said in a Facebook post in Hindi, “Baba Saheb is the architect of the Constitution, a great man who gave direction to the country. The country will not tolerate his insult or the insult to the Constitution framed by him. Home Minister should apologize!”

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also shared pictures from the protest on X.

“One gets rights by taking the name of Ambedkar ji. Taking the name of Ambedkar ji is a symbol of human dignity. Ambedkar ji’s name is a symbol of self-respect of crores of Dalits and deprived people,” Priyanka Gandhi said in a post in Hindi on X.

The Congress on Tuesday alleged that Shah’s remarks in the Rajya Sabha during a debate on the Constitution show that the BJP and the RSS leaders have a “lot of hatred” for Ambedkar and demanded an apology from him.

Congress general secretary-in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh had shared a video snippet on X from Shah’s speech in the upper house.

“Abhi ek fashion ho gaya hai – Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar. Itna naam agar bhagwan ka lete to saat janmon tak swarg mil jata (It has become a fashion to say Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar’. If they had taken God’s name so many times, they would have got a place in heaven),” Shah had said, taking a swipe at the opposition.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday stoutly defended Shah from the Congress’ charge that he insulted Ambedkar in his speech in the Rajya Sabha, asserting that the Home Minister in fact exposed the party’s “dark history of insulting” the architect of the Constitution, leaving the main opposition “stung and stunned”.

“They are clearly stung and stunned by the facts he presented, which is why they are now indulging in theatrics. Sadly, for them, people know the truth,” Modi said in a series of posts on X.

The Sub-Committee of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) implemented Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across the National Capital Region (NCR) on Monday night

Delhi Weather Update: Delhi residents were greeted by a bitterly cold winter morning, with temperatures plunging and air pollution levels reaching alarming heights. The city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) surged to 441, placing it in the “severe” category according to the Central Government’s Sameer app. Meanwhile, the mercury dropped to a chilly 5 degrees Celsius, with certain areas experiencing temperatures dipping below 4 degrees Celsius.

The Sub-Committee of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) implemented Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across the National Capital Region (NCR) on Monday night with “immediate effect” in response to declining air quality. This decision came after Delhi’s AQI surpassed the 400 mark. On Monday night, the AQI was reported as 399 at 9 PM and crossed into the severe zone at 401 by 10 PM.

Earlier, GRAP-III restrictions had been re-imposed across the NCR after the AQI breached the 350 mark amid “highly unfavourable meteorological conditions” and “other factors affecting the dispersion of pollutants.”

As of 7 AM, the AQI in Anand Vihar, Burari, and Lajpat Nagar has exceeded 480. Out of the 37 monitoring stations across Delhi, 32 recorded AQI levels above 400.

Following the reimposition of GRAP-III restrictions across the National Capital Region (NCR) amid “highly unfavourable meteorological conditions,” all schools have been directed to conduct classes for children up to Class V in a ‘hybrid mode.’

An official order from the Directorate of Education in Delhi stated, “The Sub-Committee for GRAP, in its meeting held on December 16, comprehensively reviewed the air quality scenario in the region and has decided that all actions envisaged under Stage-III of the latest GRAP schedule, as issued by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), be implemented with immediate effect by all agencies in the entire NCR.”

“In addition to the actions under Stages I and II of the revised GRAP schedule already in force, all Heads of Schools of Government, Government-aided, unaided recognised private schools under DoE, NDMC, MCD, and the Delhi Cantonment Board are directed to conduct classes for children up to Class V in a ‘hybrid mode,’ i.e., both in physical and online formats, with immediate effect until further orders,” the order further read.

At 5:30 AM, Delhi’s temperature stood at 8.4 degrees Celsius, and by 7 AM, visibility at IGI Airport dropped to 300 meters. However, at Safdarjung, visibility was as low as 50 meters. The stillness of the air has led to a sharp rise in pollution levels.
