A man travelling in a Thar car was surrounded and severely beaten by a group of men over a minor dispute in Bardauda Sihani village under Hafizpur police station area of Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur. During this incident, his car was also damaged with sticks and rods. Police have taken one youth into custody in connection with the matter.
According to police, Hashim, a resident of village Bardauda Sihani, works as a contractual lineman with the electricity board. It was reported that on Tuesday, Hashim had gone with his team to village Bajhaira under Kapurpur police station area for electricity checking. There, villagers opposed the team and the team had to return.
Lineman Hashim was also returning on his motorbike. Meanwhile, Bhoora, a resident of village Bajhaira, was travelling in his Thar vehicle. Both encountered each other in village Bardauda Sihani. Lineman Hashim stopped Bhoora’s car, claiming there had been a collision with his bike, and called his brothers and relative to the spot.
It is alleged that Hashim and his brothers surrounded and stopped the car. The youths severely beat the car driver and vandalised the vehicle. Upon receiving information about the assault, Hafizpur police station in-charge Ashish Kumar reached the spot with a police team and somehow rescued the car driver, sending him to hospital for treatment.
Police station in-charge Ashish Kumar stated that a case will be registered once a complaint is received. One accused has been arrested in the matter. Action will be taken against the accused according to regulations.
