Belgrade: Numbeo, a data company, has released its list of the world’s most expensive and cheapest cities for the year 2025. The list includes a total of 327 cities, with cities from India, Egypt, and Pakistan being the most affordable. The cheapest city (ranked 327th) is Coimbatore, India, while the most expensive city (at the top) is Zurich, Switzerland. This survey compares the cost of living across global cities based on New York’s cost of living, taking into account rent, food, and purchasing power.

It is important to note that the top three most expensive cities on this list are from Switzerland. After Zurich, Lausanne and Geneva rank as the second and third most expensive cities in the world. New York, USA, is in fourth place. Basel and Bern, both in Switzerland, rank fifth and sixth, respectively. San Francisco, USA, is ranked seventh, while Honolulu, USA, is eighth. Reykjavik, Iceland, and Boston, USA, are also among the ten most expensive cities. Following them, Singapore ranks 11th, Washington, D.C. is 13th, and London, UK, is in 14th place.

Cheapest Cities in India and Pakistan

In this list, Coimbatore, India, is the cheapest city in the world. It is followed by Alexandria, Egypt, which ranks 326th. Lahore, Pakistan, is the third cheapest city (ranked 325th), while Karachi, Pakistan, is the fourth cheapest. Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, is ranked 314th on this list. Lahore and Karachi are up to 85% cheaper than Zurich.

India’s Cheapest Cities

In the list, Lucknow (ranked 323rd), Jaipur (322nd), Surat (321st), Kochi (320th), Bhubaneswar (319th), Kolkata (318th), Vadodara (316th), and Chandigarh (315th) are among the cheapest cities in the world. Other Indian cities on the list include Mumbai (286th), Gurugram (291st), Pune (299th), Delhi (301st), Noida (303rd), Hyderabad (309th), Ahmedabad (310th), and Chennai (311th).

Among the 14 cheapest cities (ranked 314-327), there are two from Egypt, three from Pakistan, and nine from India.
