Delhi Assembly Election Result: BJP CM candidates: After the Exit polls predicted a BJP victory in Delhi, the early trends of the Delhi Assembly have given the Bharatiya Janata Party a majority mark with a lead on 43 seats. The currently ruling Aam Aadmi Party is leading on only 25 seats and Congress is leading on a single seat as per early trends till 9 AM. If the initial trends continue, BJP will form the new government in Delhi and here are the candidates who can be the new Chief Minister of Delhi.

1. Dushyant Gautam: Currently the National General Secretary of the Bhartiya Janata Party, Gautam is BJP’s national general secretary and a Dalit leader. He is one of the probable Chief Minister candidates with a ground support in Delhi. On an election format, he is contesting from the Karol Bagh seat against AAP’s MLA Vishesh Ravi.

2. Parvesh Verma: Son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, Pravesh Verma is contesting from the New Delhi seat against AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal. He is one of the top-running candidates of BJP.

In addition to Pravesh Verma, Ramesh Bidhuri, who is contesting against Delhi CM Atishi, Harish Khurana, the son of former Delhi Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana, is also a candidate. He is running from Moti Nagar and may be seen as a potential choice for the BJP if they seek a leader with a legacy. For a female Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta and Shikha Rai are two prominent contenders.

Counting of votes begins in Delhi

As counting of votes for the assembly polls began in Delhi on Saturday, candidates cutting across party lines visited shrines in the national capital to offer prayers and seek blessings. Counting of votes for Delhi’s 70 assembly constituencies began amid tight security at 19 locations across the national capital, as of 9 AM on Saturday.

The BJP’s New Delhi candidate Parvesh Verma visited a Hanuman temple to seek blessings.

“‘Aaj sarkar banegi (Our government will be formed today)’ … Exit polls are indicating the same. I prayed to Hanuman ji for a good government in Delhi so that we can work in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision,” he told reporters.

Delhi Chief Minister and AAP’s Kalkaji candidate Atishi described the elections as “a battle between good and evil, work and hooliganism”. She expressed confidence that the people of Delhi would stand with AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal’s governance model.
