Bahadur Shah Zafar was made the leader of the Indian forces.

New Delhi: Everyone knows the story of Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last Mughal emperor of India, but few know how invaluable his crown was. Very few people are aware of where his crown is now. This crown is considered an important symbol of India’s history. Let us find out where the emperor’s crown is now.

It can still be seen in London today. After the 1857 uprising, when the British ended the Mughal rule, this crown came into the hands of Major Robert Taylor. He took it to England and handed it over to Queen Victoria. Since then, it has been kept in a museum in London.

In 1857, Indian soldiers revolted against the British. In this battle, Bahadur Shah Zafar was made the leader of the Indian forces. However, the British defeated him. After this, the British sent him to Burma, now known as Myanmar. He died there in 1862.

After the auction, Robert Christopher Tytler purchased the crown. After this, the British auctioned off all his precious belongings in Delhi. In this auction, Major Robert Christopher Tytler bought his crown and two thrones. He brought them back to England.

In England, a jeweller offered to buy it for £1,000. However, Tytler presented it to Queen Victoria. The crown was adorned with gold, diamonds, pearls, and other precious gems. It was specially crafted according to Mughal royal tradition. Queen Victoria bought it and placed it in the British royal collection. Tytler received only £500 for the crown and thrones, which made him unhappy.

Bahadur Shah Zafar wrote poetry in Urdu and Persian. One of his famous couplets is still greatly appreciated today, in which he expressed his defeat and sorrow. Today, Bahadur Shah Zafar’s crown is housed in a museum in London.
