China congratulated the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for successfully docking its satellites into space.
Beijing: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully docked two satellites in space on Thursday. The incredible feat by the Indian Space Agency was lauded by the Xi Jinping-led Chinese government. China congratulated the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for successfully docking its satellites into space. With this, India becomes the fourth country in the world to achieve this milestone. Prior to India, only the United States, Russia, and China had successfully docked their satellites in space.
China Congratulates India
“Congratulations to India and #ISRO on the successful docking of satellites under the Spadex mission,” said Yu Jing, spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in India. It is important to note that this is not the first time China has praised India. To recall, in September 2014, India’s Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), Mangalyaan had successfully entered Mars’ orbit, China had promptly congratulated India on its successful Mars mission.
While congratulating India on Mangalyaan, China stated that it was not only a proud achievement for India and Asia but also a “historic progress” in humanity’s exploration of outer space. The success of Mangalyaan made India the first country to reach Mars’ orbit, and notably, it also became the first nation in the world to do so on its maiden attempt. Similarly, China praised India for its successful lunar landing through an article in the Global Times.
China Reaches Mars Orbit After 10 Years
China launched its first Mars mission, Tianwen-1, in 2020. It successfully entered Mars’ orbit in February 2021. A decade earlier, Beijing had failed to reach Mars’ orbit when its orbiter, Yinghuo-1, aboard the Russian spacecraft Phobos, malfunctioned mid-mission. Both the Russian and Chinese spacecraft burned up in Earth’s atmosphere.
