Kamikaze drones, also called suicide drones, are a mixture of missiles and surveillance drones.
New Delhi: The Indian Army has decided to multiply its strength, and for that, it is soon going to buy 850 dangerous Kamikaze (suicide) drones, say reports. This entire deal will be worth approximately 2000 crore rupees. These drones will be used not only by the Army but also by the Special Forces of the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy.
Ashni Platoon
After Operation Sindoor, the army has learned that future wars will be won with drones. In the action taken after the Pahalgam attack, these drones crippled the enemy. Now, every infantry battalion will have a special ‘Ashni Platoon’ that will operate these drones.
What Is The New Plan Of The Army?
The Indian Army is taking its firepower to the next level. According to an ANI report, the army is in the final stages of acquiring 850 Kamikaze drones. These are also called loitering munitions. These are drones that hover in the air for a long time. And as soon as the target is spotted, they crash into it and self-destruct. This proposal may be passed in the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) meeting this month. It will be purchased under a fast-track process. Importantly, these drones and their launchers will be procured from indigenous sources, with India now becoming self-reliant in terms of weapons.
These Drones Wreaked Havoc In Pakistan During Operation Sindoor
The army has taken this decision based on the lessons learned from ‘Operation Sindoor’. In retaliation for the Pahalgam terrorist attack, India conducted an operation inside Pakistan. In that operation, the Indian Army made extensive use of drones. On the very first day of the operation, India destroyed 7 out of 9 terrorist hideouts across the LoC and inside Pakistan. Later, these drones wreaked havoc on the Pakistani Army as it came to rescue the terrorists. They suffered heavy losses in that attack and much of their infrastructure was destroyed.
Indian Army’s Own Air Power
Every infantry battalion of the army will now have an ‘Ashni Platoon’. The sole job of this platoon will be to operate drones. These drones will be used to attack enemy targets and in counterinsurgency (CI) operations. The army’s plan is not limited to just 850 drones. According to sources, the army wants to include approximately 30,000 such drones in its fleet in the coming years. This will give every fighting unit of the army its own air power.
Why Are Kamikaze Drones So Dangerous?
Kamikaze drones, also called suicide drones, are a mixture of missiles and surveillance drones. They hover over the target until the right opportunity arises. They are adept at precise attacks and can evade radar detection. This Rs 2000 crore deal will increase the strength of the Indian Army manifold. Especially on the Pakistani border, where terrorists attempt infiltration, these drones will prove to be a game-changer. Now the enemy will not be safe even in bunkers.
