Pam Bondi will appear Wednesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee for her confirmation hearing to be the next U.S. attorney general.

The former Florida attorney general was selected by President-elect Donald Trump after his first pick, Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, stepped aside amid allegations of wrongdoing, including paying for sex with a 17-year-old.

The Judiciary Committee has scheduled two hearings to vet Bondi, with the second scheduled for Thursday.
Since leaving the White House, Trump has been embroiled in a number of legal cases, including being charged at both the state and federal level related to his alleged efforts to subvert the 2020 election. After his reelection, the Justice Department ended its case, though special counsel Jack Smith released a report overnight saying he believed their evidence would have been sufficient to convict Trump if he hadn’t been returning to office.
Trump has denied wrongdoing and cast the various investigations into his conduct as witch hunts.
