Thane: A 35-year-old house in Thane’s Wagle Estate suffered a structural failure on Friday evening, causing its wall to collapse onto a neighbouring residence. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, according to civic officials. The collapse was reported to the Disaster Management Cell of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) around 6 pm, prompting a swift response from emergency teams.

Affected Locals Shifted To Local Madrasa

As a precautionary measure, authorities evacuated four nearby houses, affecting 28 residents. These displaced individuals were temporarily accommodated at a local madrasa (Islamic educational institution) to ensure their safety. The Chief of the Disaster Management Cell, Yasin Tadvi, confirmed that there were no casualties.

The collapsed wall belonged to a house owned by Khalil Ansari, while the neighbouring affected residence was owned by Babulal Vishwakarma, PTI reported. Following the incident, officials from the fire department and the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) arrived promptly to assess the damage and secure the area.

Emergency responders, including fire personnel and staff from the disaster management and encroachment departments, worked to dismantle and clear hazardous debris. To prevent further risks, authorities barricaded the affected zone to restrict unauthorised access.

Civic officials have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the structural failure. Findings from this probe may lead to legal or regulatory action if negligence is identified. Meanwhile, residents have been urged to stay vigilant and report any visible signs of structural instability in their homes to prevent similar incidents in the future.
