Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): On the fourth and last Monday at 4 pm, the sawari of Lord Mahakal was taken out as per tradition. In the sawari, Shri Mahakaleshwar gave darshan to the devotees in four different forms – Shri Chandramauleshwar was seated in a palanquin, Shri Manmahesh on Gajraj, Shivtandav on Garuda in a bullock cart, and Shri Uma-Mahesh on Nandi in a bullock cart went on a city tour.
Before the fourth sawari, Shri Chandramauleshwar was worshipped in the Sabhamandap of Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple by Transport and School Education Minister Uday Pratap Singh.
The pujan was performed by government priest Ghanshyam Sharma. Mayor Mukesh Tatwal MLA Satish Malviya, former MLA Rajendra Bharti, Ujjain Municipal Corporation Speaker Kalavati Yadav, BJP city president Sanjay Agrawal, ADGP Umesh Joga, Collector Raushan Kumar Singh, SP Pradeep Sharma, and Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee administrator Pratham Kaushik also worshipped Shri Chandramauleshwar and participated in the aarti. Everyone shouldered the palanquin and sent it off for a city tour.
As soon as the palanquin reached the main gate of Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple, armed police force personnel gave a salute (guard of honour) to Shri Chandramauleshwar.
Thousands of devotees were walking while singing praises of Lord Shiva, and various bhajan troupes were playing cymbals, manjiras, and damru. Devotees were standing on both sides of the sawari route to have darshan of Chandramauleshwar seated in the palanquin.
The sawari reached Ram Ghat via its traditional route, where the Lord was anointed and worshipped with the water of Mother Kshipra at Ramghat. After worship-abhishek and aarti, the sawari reached Ramanujkot, Modh ki Dharamshala, Kartik Chowk, Khati Ka Mandir, Satyanarayan Temple, Dhaba Road, Tanki Chauraha, Chhatri Chowk, and Gopal Mandir, where Shri Chandramauleshwar was worshipped by the priest of Scindia Trust.
After this, the sawari reached Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple again via Patni Bazaar and GudriChauraha. The sawari took rest after reaching Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple.
Four tribal artistes’ teams participated in the fourth sawari. Bhagoria dance from Dhar in Madhya Pradesh led by Manish Sisodia, Bharia tribal Bhadam dance of Mojilal Dadolia, Chhindwara, Matki folk dance led by Krishna Verma of Ujjain, and Gond tribal Saila dance led by Rahul DhurveSeoni were performed.
They gave their performances alongside the sawari. All the tribal teams participated in the fourth sawari of Lord Shri Mahakaleshwar through the Culture Department, Bhopal, Tribal Folk Art and Dialect Development Academy, Madhya Pradesh Culture Council, and Triveni Art and Archaeological Museum.
As per the theme, tableaus of wildlife tourism, religious tourism, historical tourism, and rural tourism of Madhya Pradesh were taken out. Under wildlife tourism, Madhya Pradesh’s major tiger reserves, such as the Kanha Tiger Reserve, the Pench Tiger Reserve, the Ratapani Tiger Reserve, and the Panna Tiger Reserve,were displayed.
Under religious tourism, Sandipani Ashram of Ujjain city of Madhya Pradesh, where Lord Shri Krishna studied, was displayed, along with Adi Shankaracharya Ekatma Dham situated in Omkareshwar. Under historical tourism, Gwalior Fort, ChanderiFort, and Khajuraho Temple were displayed. Under rural tourism, home stays operated by the MP Tourism Department in Orchha were displayed, along with a replica of the Orchha temple.
Parthiv Shivling worshipped
During Baba Mahakal’s sawari, the worship plate was taken to the banks of Kshipra by the present Gadipati Sundarpuri of Dutt Akhara and RamtaPanch Mahant Anand Puri also made a Parthiv Shivling and worshipped it. For the worship of the palanquin, the worship plate is taken to the other side of Kshipra by the Dutt Akhada. Along with this, all the saints worship it by making a Parthiv Shivling near the Dutt Akhada Ghat. The Gadipati does not go to the banks of Kshipra. This tradition has been going on for years.
