Arsenal are on the verge of completing a major summer signing, as Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres is set to join the club from Sporting CP. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a verbal agreement has been reached between all parties involved. Sporting have accepted Arsenal’s latest offer of €63.5 million plus an additional €10 million in performance-based add-ons, bringing the total package to €73.5 million.

Gyokeres, 27, has been a standout performer for Sporting, and his move to North London marks a significant step in his career. The striker is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Gunners, keeping him at the Emirates until 2030. His agent has also agreed to reduce his commission to help push the deal through, further signalling how advanced and committed the negotiations have been.

What stands out most in this saga is Gyokeres’ firm desire to play for Arsenal. As per Romano, the Swedish international only wanted a move to the Gunners, despite reported interest from other top European clubs earlier in the window. His commitment to the project under Mikel Arteta played a key role in the smooth progression of talks between the clubs and his representatives.

With the deal now verbally agreed and nearing completion, Arsenal are expected to officially announce the signing in the coming days, barring any last-minute surprises. Gyokeres is set to bolster Arsenal’s attacking options as they aim to mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title and go deep in the Champions League in the 2025–26 season.
