Veteran actress Usha Nadkarni, who is currently seen as a contestant in the cooking reality show Celebrity MasterChef, broke down as she recalled her younger brother’s death during one of the latest episodes.
Going by one of the promos shared by the makers on social media, the episode took an emotional turn as Usha opened up about her late brother, leaving both judges and co-contestants deeply moved. The newly released promo by Sony TV shows the Pavitra Rishta actress getting teary-eyed as she recalls celebrating festivals alone due to her work commitments.
As part of a special challenge, contestants were asked to prepare dishes that hold significance during festivals. While cooking, Usha shared that she was celebrating Ganpati Utsav. Michelin-starred chef Vikas Khanna, who is one of the judges of Celebrity MasterChef, opened up about the importance of home-cooked meals, especially for those living away from India.
When Vikas asked why she always mentioned celebrating festivals alone, she opened up about her past. She explained that her son was raised by her younger brother, as she was often away for work. Overcome with emotion, Usha revealed that her brother, who played a crucial role in her life, passed away on June 30, 2024.
“Uski bahot yaad aati hai,” the veteran actress said.
Hearing Usha’s story, Vikas was deeply moved and even he broke down in tears. The celebrated chef shared that Diwali was always a special festival for him, but since losing his sister, all celebrations have lost their meaning.
Vikas then hugged Usha and praised her for her strength.
Besides Usha, Tejasswi Prakash, Archana Gautam, Gaurav Khanna, Dipika Kakar Ibrahim, Rajiv Adatia, Nikki Tamboli, Faisal Shaikh aka Mr. Faisu, and Kabita Singh are seen as contestants.
