US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has praised India for the way it is handling the investigation into the recent terror attack near Delhi’s Red Fort, calling the probe “measured, cautious, and very professional.”
Speaking to reporters after meeting India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on the sidelines of the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting in Canada, Rubio said the United States had offered to help with the investigation but noted that Indian agencies were doing an excellent job on their own.
India’s investigation lauded for efficiency
“We’ve offered to help, but I think they’re very capable in these investigations. They don’t need our help, and they’re doing a good job,” Rubio said, according to Reuters. He added that Indian authorities had been “very measured and professional” in how they were handling the case, especially given the sensitive nature of such attacks.

Rubio also said that the US was aware of the potential risks of rising tensions between India and Pakistan after the blast, but appreciated New Delhi’s calm and responsible approach. “Clearly, it was a terrorist attack, a car loaded with highly explosive materials that detonated and killed a lot of people. But the Indians have handled it very professionally,” he said.
Jaishankar, Rubio discuss terrorism and global issues
During their meeting, Jaishankar thanked Rubio for his condolences over the victims of the Delhi explosion. In a post after the meeting, Jaishankar said the two leaders discussed bilateral relations, including trade and supply chain cooperation. They also exchanged views on the Ukraine conflict, the situation in the Middle East, and developments in the Indo-Pacific region.
Rubio said the US would wait for India’s investigation to conclude before commenting further. “They’re capable in these investigations. They don’t need our help,” he reiterated, adding that the professionalism of India’s agencies should be commended.
US Embassy expresses condolences
The US Embassy in New Delhi also condemned the deadly explosion and extended condolences to the victims’ families. “Our sympathies and prayers are with the families of those killed in the horrific explosion in New Delhi,” said Ambassador Sargio Gore. “We wish the injured a speedy recovery.”
The blast, which occurred on Monday, 10th November, near the Red Fort Metro Station, killed at least 13 people and left nearly 2 dozen injured. Investigations by India’s anti-terror and forensic units are underway to trace those responsible for the attack.
