US multimillionaire and the founder of the popular ‘Squatty Potty’, Robert ‘Bobby’ Edwards, was reportedly formally charged by a federal court in the Utah district on Monday (23rd February) on the allegations of buying and receiving child pornographic content. Edwards, from Ivins, Utah, was arrested on 12th February in Washington County, Utah, after being indicted by a federal court on 10th February.
The allegations against Edwards stated that he knowingly received multiple images of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) between March 2021 and November 2025. This came to light after an undercover FBI agent joined an online profile account and a group chat in March 2021, which Edwards was part of, and where child sexual abuse material was being shared. The online meeting room was viewing a collection of child sexual abuse material videos, which were being streamed on the main screen. Participants in the meeting were visible, which included Edwards.
As the investigation into the child pornographic content progressed, the FBI learned in May 2025 that Edwards was suspected of buying additional child sexual abuse material through his PayPal account. Four transactions were flagged by PayPal involving Edwards’ account as possibly related to CSAM. It was later found by FBI agents that the transactions were between Edwards and John Carver, a man from the United Kingdom who was arrested days later. Carver was subsequently convicted of distributing the materials and blackmailing buyers.
Agents later learned that the transactions were between Edwards and John Carver, a United Kingdom man who was arrested days later, and ultimately convicted, for distributing the materials and blackmailing buyers.
Subsequently, a search warrant was executed by law enforcement on 4th November, 2025, against Edward. During the search, FBI agents seized a mobile phone from his vehicle, which contained several videos and images of child sexual abuse material. Some of the content was reportedly downloaded two weeks before the search. Additional CSAM was found by the agents on additional devices seized by the agents from his residence.
During his initial court appearance, Edwards pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail by US Magistrate Judge Paul Kohler in St. George. His detention hearing is scheduled for 2nd March, 2026, at the federal courthouse in St. George.
