Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrives Prayagraj to take holy dip at Triveni Sangam

Prayagraj: Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Prayagraj on Monday to take part in the ongoing Mahakumbh celebrations. He was welcomed at the Prayagraj airport by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and several members of the state cabinet. During his one-day visit, Shah took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the now-extinct Saraswati rivers. Following this, he visited the iconic Bade Hanuman Ji Temple and the sacred Akshayavat tree.

The Home Minister will then proceed to the Juna Akhara, where he will meet Maharaj and other saints and have lunch with them. His schedule also includes a visit to Guru Sharananand Ji’s Ashram, where he will meet Guru Sharananand Ji and Govind Giri Ji Maharaj. He will conclude his spiritual journey by meeting the Shankaracharyas of Sringeri, Puri, and Dwaraka. The home Minister will depart for Delhi in the evening.

Leaders visited Maha Kumbh 2025

Till date, Mahakumbh has already witnessed visits from several Union Ministers, including Rajnath Singh, and a number of political leaders. Recently, the Uttar Pradesh cabinet held a meeting in Prayagraj before taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam. On Sunday, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav took 11 holy dips during his visit to the Mahakumbh. The event continues to draw millions of devotees from across the country.

Meanwhile, a Dharma Sansad led by spiritual leader Devkinandan Thakurji Maharaj is set to take part in the Mahakumbh. The gathering aims to propose the formation of a Sanatana Board for the welfare of temples and the preservation of Sanatana Dharma. “We all want the Sanatana Board to be constituted. We are placing a proposal before the Government. All Dharmacharyas want the welfare of Sanatana and temples to remain secure – for this Dharma Sansad is about to begin. I am going to see the preparation for the same. People are arriving here in large numbers,” Devkinandan Thakurji Maharaj told ANI.

Significance of Maha Kumbh 2025

The Maha Kumbh is held every 12 years. It commenced on January 13, 2025 and will continue until February 26, 2025. Over 110 million devotees have already taken a holy dip in the first 14 days on Sunday, with an expected turnout of more than 450 crore by the end of the event. Rooted in Sanatan Dharma, the spiritual gathering signifies cleansing and liberation, and is  celebrated through rituals, prayers, and celestial alignments.
