A woman working as a manager at a private IT company was allegedly gang-raped in a moving car in Udaipur, Rajasthan, after being offered a ride home from a New Year party. According to the police, the incident happened after a party held at a private hotel on December 20. The woman reached the party around 9 pm, and it continued until about 1.30 am. When most guests left, she was left behind at the venue.
The victim said that she began feeling unwell late at night, following which arrangements were made to drop her home. She alleged that the female executive head offered to drop her, and around 1.45 am, they left the hotel in the victim’s car. The executive head’s husband and the company’s CEO were also present in the vehicle.
Police said that while travelling, the accused stopped at a shop to buy smoking material and gave it to the woman. After consuming it, she allegedly became unconscious.
The survivor said that when she partly regained consciousness, the CEO was allegedly misbehaving with her. She then claimed that all three accused sexually assaulted her. She was dropped at her home around 5 am.
After fully regaining consciousness, the woman noticed injuries on her body and found that some of her personal belongings were missing. She later went to the police and filed a complaint the next morning.
Following a preliminary investigation, police arrested the three accused — the company’s CEO Jayesh, the executive’s husband Gaurav, and his wife Shilpa. Further investigation is underway.
Udaipur Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal said the medical report has confirmed injury marks, which provide initial evidence of gang rape.
Police are also checking audio and video recordings from a dashcam installed in the car. The footage reportedly captured voices during the incident and is being examined as part of the investigation.
The accused have been produced before a court, and further legal proceedings are ongoing, the police said.
