Two youth in their 20s were killed after a speeding car rammed into their scooter on the Western Express Highway in Bandra East in the early hours of Friday. The accident occurred at Kherwadi. Siddhesh Belkar, around 20 years old, was driving a car with three companions from Andheri after a night out when the accident happened. The police arrested Belkar. The two deceased, identified as Manav Patel and Harsh Makwana. In another accident, a 65-year-old man died in Oshiwara on Thursday after being hit from behind by a tempo while walking on the side of the road. The tempo driver, Dharmendrakumar Yadav, 28, was arrested by the Oshiwara police.

According to the police, the accident occurred on Friday at 1 a.m. when a speeding car traveling from Borivali to South Mumbai lost control near the Kherwadi Junction. The driver, Belkar, swerved onto the divider before entering the opposite lane. At the same time, a scooter travelling from Bandra to Andheri, the car collided with scooter. Both the rider and the pillion sustained severe head injuries. Belkar and his companions suffered minor injuries. The police transported both victims to a nearby government hospital, where doctors declared them dead. The victims, were residents of Vile Parle West, while the accused resides in Borivali West.  Meanwhile the police have not disclosed other things.

A police officer stated, “We conducted a medical test on the car driver, and he was not under the influence of alcohol.” The police registered a case against Belkar under Section 106 (causing death by negligence) and other relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with applicable provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Another accident occurred on Thursday at 9.30 p.m. in front of the Just Dogs shop on New Link Road, Oshiwara, Jogeshwari West. The victim, identified as Narayan Potdar, 65, was walking along the roadside when a tempo hit him from behind, causing him to fall and sustain serious injuries. Bystanders informed the police. When the officers arrived, they found Potdar injured but still conscious. He was rushed to Trauma Hospital, Jogeshwari East, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. 

The police arrested the tempo driver, Dharmendrakumar Yadav, who resides in Dahisar East. A case was registered against him under Section 106(1) (causing death by negligence) and Section 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita on Friday.
