Mumbai: In connection with the recent firing incident targeting a builder in Chembur, the Mumbai Police arrested two accused on Friday. The Mumbai Crime Branch nabbed the prime accused, Feroz Badruddin Khan (54), from Mira Road, while Chembur Police apprehended the alleged shooter, Afsar Khan (20), from Dharavi.

According to senior police officials, the firing on builder Sadruddin Khan stemmed from an old rivalry and a long-standing property dispute. The incident, which occurred on April 9, was reported by GPlus on April 11. During the investigation, it was revealed that Feroz Khan had hired Afsar for ₹20,000 to carry out the attack. The firearm used in the crime was allegedly sourced from Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Police sources disclosed that Feroz had purchased two acres of land worth ₹18 crore in the Mumbra-Sealpada area and sold one acre to Sadruddin for ₹9 crore. However, despite acquiring the land, Sadruddin allegedly failed to make the payment and kept delaying it. Feroz claims that Sadruddin built 8–10 buildings on the land and sold multiple flats, while never clearing his dues.

Furthermore, the two had also jointly invested ₹5 crore in land at Mira Road. Feroz alleged that he was denied his rightful share as a partner in this deal as well. After repeated failed attempts to recover his dues over the last two years, Feroz is said to have hatched a plot to eliminate Sadruddin.

Six months ago, Feroz called Afsar from Fatehpur to Mumbai and instructed him to conduct a recce of the target. On April 9, the duo began tailing Sadruddin’s vehicle from Sion. Feroz rode a Pulsar motorcycle while Afsar sat pillion. When Sadruddin’s car stopped at the Diamond Garden signal in Chembur, Feroz gave the command and Afsar fired three rounds before they fled the scene on the bike.

The Mumbai Police have registered a case and are continuing with the investigation.
