Under the recent rule change, the US has announced that  visa period for students and cultural exchange visitors will not be more than four years. Under the plan, ‘F’, ‘J’, and ‘I’ visas will no longer remain valid for the entire duration of study or employment but will instead be capped at fixed periods.

According to the proposal, student and cultural exchange visas will be limited to a maximum of four years, while journalist visas will be restricted to 240 days. For Chinese citizens, the limit will be only 90 days, a move that has drawn protests from Beijing.
