Mumbai’s Western Express Highway (WEH) has become a nightmare for commuters, with a 2-kilometer stretch taking a grueling 2 hours to traverse in the afternoon hours on Wednesday. Residents and daily commuters have been voicing their frustrations on social media, complaining about the severe congestion on the highway.

As the city continues to grapple with infrastructure challenges, commuters can only hope that the traffic authorities will take proactive measures to mitigate such situations in the future.

The start of the Aarey Flyover and VLR Flyover on the WEH northbound lane have been jammed for over 2 hours, with a 2-kilometer-long queue of vehicles. A broken-down truck at Mogra Metro Station in Jogeshwari has further exacerbated the situation, causing the WEH northbound lane to come to a standstill.

Commuters have been taking to social media to express their frustration over the lack of effective traffic management. Many have criticized the traffic authorities for not taking prompt action to clear the congestion. The Mumbai traffic department has responded to each complaint, stating that their concerns have been sent via wireless to the relevant authorities.

The closure of the Elphinstone Bridge has also contributed to the increased traffic on the WEH. The bridge’s closure has diverted a large number of vehicles onto the highway, leading to congestion and gridlock.
