Noida, Uttar Pradesh: A massive fire broke out at a garbage dumping ground managed by the Noida Authority in Sector 32 on Wednesday (March 5) afternoon. As per reports, strong winds caused the flames to spread rapidly, setting the entire landfill ablaze. The incident disrupted traffic near the surrounding residential societies and the MP-2 route.

Several netizens took to social media to complain about the toxic air that engulfed the area.

“Do resident of NOIDA know @noida_authority has been dumping city’s garbage in the middle of the town-sec-32 or so? The dump caught fire few hours ago. Toxic smoke from waste has engulfed the area. @CeoNoida must look in,” sharing a video of the surroundings, a netizen wrote on X.

The video showed the aftermath of the massive fire breakout, with dense grey smoke covering the sky and roads, briefly triggering panic among locals. Several netizens reported that they were forced to change their routes. “This has become way too common now. Every year in March we have these massive landfills which in turn are ignited accidentally or knowingly. This is a matter of grave concern,” wrote another user.

As per reports, following the complaints, fire brigade vehicles immediately reached the spot and began efforts to control the fire. Due to the thick black smoke which filled the sky, visibility across the area was heavily impacted.

The toxic smoke left many residents complaining of eye irritation and breathing difficulties. As per a report by NDTV India, Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Choubey stated that the fire unit was dispatched promptly and is actively working to bring the situation under control.
