Titwala (Thane): A shocking case of harassment and assault has surfaced from Titwala near Kalyan, where a married woman was allegedly harassed and an attempt was made to strip her in public over an old dispute on Sunday. When her husband intervened, he was asked to ‘send his wife to them if he wants to stay in the area’. His family was also brutally attacked.
Adding to the outrage, the Titwala police reportedly dismissed the complaint, advising the victim’s husband to ‘stay quiet and go home,’ as per a report by NDTV Marathi. The incident has triggered widespread anger in the area, with strong criticism of the police’s handling of the case.
What Exactly Happened?
The incident took place in the Balyani area of Titwala on Sunday evening. A man had gone to his mother’s house for dinner along with his wife. The couple, who recently got married, were returning home when a group of men confronted them. He had a prior dispute with these individuals, and they began mocking him as soon as they spotted him.
The situation escalated quickly when one of the men grabbed his wife’s hand and made a shocking demand, telling him to send his wife to them. As tensions rose, the man called his parents for help, but before they could intervene, a mob of 20-25 people launched a violent attack on them. The brutal assault was caught on video and has since gone viral on social media, sparking outrage.
Police Response Raises Questions
Despite the severity of the attack, the most appalling aspect of the case has been the response from the Titwala police. Instead of taking immediate action against the accused, they allegedly pressured the man to remain silent and go home. This indifferent attitude has further angered the local community, with many questioning whether justice will be served.
Expressing his fear and frustration, the victim’s husband stated that his wife and him suffered a horrific attack. No one should have to go through this. We are living in fear and demand justice, he further stated.
