Mumbai, February 17: A shocking video is going viral on social media, showing a thief snatching a mobile phone from a moving Shatabdi Express train and escaping within seconds. Train thefts are not new, but with the installation of CCTV cameras, such incidents are now being recorded. The video of the incident is doing rounds on social media. The lost phone belonged to a close associate of Rajasthan Congress MP.
Thief Targets MP’s Associate
The incident occurred on Wednesday (February 12) at around 6 AM in the morning. In the viral video, the thief snatches a mobile phone from a man sitting near the train door. The train is moving slowly when, within seconds, the thief grabs the phone and jumps off the train to escape.
There are reports that the stolen phone belonged to Lakshman Sai, a close associate of Congress MP Ummedaram Beniwal from Rajasthan.
Incident Happened Between Delhi and Jaipur
MP Ummedaram Beniwal was travelling from New Delhi to Jaipur on the Shatabdi Express train along with his associate. As soon as the train slowed down, the thief quickly entered, grabbed the phone and ran away. Two passengers tried to chase him, but he managed to escape.
Rising Concerns Over Train Security
The CCTV footage of this theft has raised questions over the safety of the passengers in trains. People are questioning how thieves are operating fearlessly in premium trains like Shatabdi Express and have expressed concerns over security in other trains.
Although no official statement has been released by the MP, reports suggest that a complaint has been filed regarding the incident. The police have registered a complaint and initiated an investigation into the matter.
They are scanning the CCTV cameras installed inside the train and in the area where the incident occurred. There are no reports of any arrests in connection with the matter. However, the police have formed a team to nab the accused.
