John Abraham and Bipasha Basu were once called the ‘IT’ couple of Bollywood, however, their relationship ended on a rather bitter note and the two have now moved on happily with their respective partners. Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri revealed on Friday that the big breakup happened just two days before the ex-couple shot for the song Billo Rani in their 2007 film, Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal.
The song Billo Rani topped the charts the year it released, and has a permanent spot in every Bollywood lover’s playlist till date. Sharing the story behind the song, Agnihotri, who was the director of Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, revealed that almost everything that could go wrong with it, went wrong, and it was only choreographer Saroj Khan who believed in him.
“This song has a history. Producers didn’t want it. Javed Saab was against the hook ‘Billo Rani’, Pritam wasn’t sure about qawwali style. John and Bipasha hasd a break up just couple of days before it so there were lots of issues (sic),” he wrote on X, sharing a clip from the song.
“But only Late Saroj Khan believed in me. She said this will become the biggest hit and it did. Big salute to Pritam, Javed saab and Saroj ji (sic),” he added.
Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal starred John, Bipasha, Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani in lead roles. The song, Billo Rani, was song by Richa Sharma and Anand Raaj Anand.
