Thane: Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has proposed a project plan for a 260-meter-high viewing gallery on the banks of the creek near Mogharpada in Thane. This project is estimated to cost Rs 8000 crore and includes a convention center, shopping mall, offices, hotels, art galleries golf course etc., which are necessary for the city and will boost tourism and be economically viable.

According to the TMC officials, a meeting was held at headquarters recently, in which MP Shrikant Shinde, MP Naresh Mhaske, MLA Jitendra Awhad, Saurabh Rao, Municipal Commissioner, Ashok Shingare, District Collector, Prashant Rode, Additional Commissioner, and Prashant Sonagra, City Engineer, Gopal Landge, were present for this meeting. In the meeting, MP Shrikant Shinde is reviewing ongoing projects across Thane.

The TMC officials said that MP Shrikant Shinde suggested that the project should be economically viable and designed accordingly. A study should be conducted for this project to understand the needs of the locals.

According to the TMC officials, this proposed project, a 260-meter-high viewing gallery, will boost the economy and surge tourism. Ravindra Manjrekar, PRO of the Thane Municipal Corporation, said that so far it is just a primary plan. It is yet to be finalized.

Morever, during the meeting, a proposal was presented for a town park that includes a sports complex, aquarium, science center, planetarium, and commercial spaces on 22 acres of land in the Kolshet area, with an expected expenditure of Rs 600 crore.
