New Delhi: An Indian Air Force (IAF) Tejas fighter jet crashed on Friday, 21 November 2025, during a demonstration at the Dubai Air Show. The incident occurred at around 2:10 pm local time.

“It wasn’t immediately clear whether the pilot ejected or not. A black smoke was reportedly seen over Al Maktoum International Airport, where the air show had been taking place,” according to the news agency AP.

Indian Air Force issues statement

Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force has issued a statement, which says: “An IAF Tejas aircraft met with an accident during an aerial display at Dubai Air Show, today. The pilot sustained fatal injuries in the accident. IAF deeply regrets the loss of life and stands firmly with the bereaved family in this time of grief. A court of inquiry is being constituted, to ascertain the cause of the accident.

The Dubai Airshow 2025 is held in Dubai, UAE, from 17 to 21 November 2025. The Dubai Airshow is a biennial Dubai event, taking place during the 40th anniversary year of host carrier Emirates. The Dubai Air Show is one of the aviation industry’s most outstanding events, and it is where India’s indigenous Tejas fighter jet was participating to highlight India’s defence manufacturing capabilities.

Earlier, in March 2024, a Tejas fighter crashed in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer, the first such accident in the aircraft’s 23-year history and its maiden test flight in 2001.
