SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav Building Grand Shiv Temple In Etawah Inspired By Kedarnath, Completion Expected By 2026 | File Photo

Etawah: Former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is constructing a large scale Shiv temple in Etawah, inspired by the Kedarnath temple. The temple, named Kedareshwar Mandir, is being built on approximately 50 bighas of land, located about 20 kilometers from his village, Saifai.

The foundation stone was laid in 2020, with completion expected by 2026. A unique feature of this project is that it is being built without the use of bricks, sand, cement, or iron.

Constructed Without Bricks, Cement or Iron

Instead, special stones are being meticulously carved in Tamil Nadu and then transported to Etawah for construction. Over 200 artisans are working on the stone carving in Tamil Nadu, with another 100 on-site in Etawah.

Built on the Shiv Shakti Aks Rekha

The temple is being built directly on the Shiv Shakti Aks Rekha, a straight line on which eight major Shiv temples of India are located. The temple, situated opposite the Etawah Lion Safari, will have a height of 74 feet. During the month of Sawan, the temple is already attracting a significant number of devotees, with an estimated 50,000 pilgrims visiting every Monday.
