India’s World Cup-winning cricketer Smriti Mandhana has officially announced her engagement to music composer Palash Muchhal, confirming months of speculation surrounding their relationship. The announcement came through a creatively choreographed Instagram reel posted on Thursday, featuring Jemimah Rodrigues, Shreyanka Patil, Radha Yadav, and Arundhati Reddy.

In the vibrant video, Mandhana was joined by Jemimah Rodrigues, Shreyanka Patil, Radha Yadav, and Arundhati Reddy, as the group danced to the popular tune “Samjho Ho Hi Gaya” from the film Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006). The performance ended with a surprise twist Mandhana revealing her engagement ring, sending fans and followers into a frenzy online. Muchhal had teased the news last month during an appearance at the State Press Club in Indore, playfully referring to Mandhana as the future “daughter-in-law of Indore.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Indian women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal ahead of their wedding, In his letter, the Prime Minister extended his heartfelt congratulations to both families and expressed his hope that the couple’s journey together would be grounded in trust, mutual support, and harmony.
The note also revealed that the wedding is expected to take place on 23 November 2025, a detail the couple has not yet formally confirmed themselves. Last month, the Indian team scripted history in Navi Mumbai when they lifted their maiden world title after defeating South Africa in the Women’s ODI World Cup final. Mandhana topped the batting chart in the tournament with 434 runs in nine innings, the most an Indian batter in a single edition.
