Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma has added another feather to his cap, crossing the 11,000-run mark in One-Day Internationals (ODIs). This historic milestone was achieved during the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where India is facing Bangladesh.
Rohit Sharma, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest opening batsmen in ODI history, reached the milestone in his 268th ODI match. Rohit Sharma becomes the 2nd fastest to reach 11,000 ODI runs after Virat Kohli.
The 37-year-old Mumbai-born batsman has been a cornerstone of the Indian ODI team for over a decade, providing solidity and firepower at the top of the order. His incredible record in ODIs is a testament to his skill, dedication, and consistency.
Rohit’s journey to 11,000 ODI runs has been nothing short of phenomenal. He made his ODI debut in 2007 and has since become one of the most successful batsmen in the format. He has scored 32 ODI centuries and 57 half-centuries.
India had a great start against Bangladesh
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is witnessing an intense battle between India and Bangladesh at the Dubai International Stadium. The match, which is part of Group A, has seen both teams give it their all, with the momentum shifting back and forth.
Bangladesh, who won the toss and opted to bat first, got off to a shaky start. The Indian pacers, led by Mohammed Shami and Harshit Rana struck early, removing the Bangladesh openers cheaply. Bangladesh eventually folded for 228 runs, with Shami being the pick of the Indian bowlers, finishing with figures of 5/53.
In response, the Indian batting lineup got off to a great start, with openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill taking on the Bangladeshi bowlers. Currently India are at 69-0 at the end of 10 overs.
