Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a tragic incident, a 48-year-old man from Ahmedabad was killed while 11 others got injured after their traveller van was hit by a recklessly driven truck on Dhar Road on Saturday early morning. The deceased and other people were on their way to Prayagraj from Gujarat.
The injured people are undergoing treatment in a city hospital. Police registered a case against the truck driver and started a search for him. The incident took place near Himmatgarh on Dhar Road under Chandan Nagar police station jurisdiction around 6.45 am.
The deceased has been identified as Jaikishan Thakkar, a resident of Ahmedabad. Jaikishan’s maternal uncle Dharmendra Thakkar, who also got injured in the accident, informed the police that 14 people including his relatives were in the van and they had left for Prayagraj from Ahmedabad late on Friday.
They reached near Himmatgarh when a recklessly driven truck coming from the wrong side hit their vehicle. The truck driver managed to flee from the spot soon after the incident. The truck was bearing a Rajasthan registration number.
Dharmendra, three women and a 12-year-old girl were among those who were critically injured in the accident. According to Dharmendra local residents informed the police and took them to the hospital where Jaikishan died during treatment due to severe head injury.

Chandan Nagar police station in charge Indramani Patel informed Free Press that preliminary investigation revealed that the truck was being driven recklessly due to which the accident happened so a case has been registered against the truck driver and a search is on for him. Also, the statements of the injured people are being recorded by the police.
