Renault has introduced factory-approved CNG retrofit kits for its popular models—the Kwid, Triber, and Kiger—expanding its fuel-efficient options in India. These kits are priced at Rs 75,000 for the Kwid and Rs 79,500 for the Triber and Kiger, and they come with a three-year warranty. However, the CNG upgrade is only available for naturally aspirated engine variants paired with manual transmissions, ruling out turbocharged and automatic models.

Renault has introduced CNG retrofit kits for its passenger vehicles, ensuring they meet stringent safety and performance guidelines. These kits will be installed by certified vendors, maintaining a uniform standard across the brand’s network. Extensive testing has been conducted to ensure reliability and seamless integration with the vehicles. The phased rollout begins in key states such as Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, which account for a major share of the demand. Renault plans to expand availability across the country in the coming months, making CNG a viable option for more customers.

Renault has introduced CNG compatibility for the Kwid, Kiger, and Triber, all of which are powered by a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. In standard petrol form, the Kwid delivers 67bhp and 91Nm, while the Kiger and Triber produce 71bhp and 96Nm. While both manual and AMT gearboxes are offered across the lineup, the CNG option is restricted to the manual variants. As with most CNG models, a slight dip in power and torque is expected compared to their petrol counterparts.

Meanwhile, the Kiger’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, which produces 99bhp and 160Nm, remains exclusive to petrol variants and does not get a CNG option. Pricing for the Kwid starts at Rs 4.70 lakh, whereas the Triber and Kiger have a base price of Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mr. Venkatram M., Managing Director and Country CEO of Renault India, stated, “Our commitment to innovation and sustainability drives us to continuously improve our offerings. The introduction of the government-approved CNG retrofitment kit across all models is a testament to our dedication to providing eco-friendly and smart solutions for our customers.”
