Actor Ram Kapoor has courted yet another controversy within a span of a couple of weeks, this time due to his distasteful comments on actress-politician Smriti Irani and her weight. The actor said in an interview that Smriti became successful despite of being “big”, and netizens lashed out at him for body-shaming the actress.
During an interview with Humans of Bombay, Ram said, “If a guy my size will want to make it big, it will be difficult. But if we talk about opposite gender, Smriti did achieve success despite all that weight.”
“She was my size as a woman and probably more successful than me. It is just that she left earlier,” he added.
Ram Kapoor slammed for his remark
This did not go well with netizens who criticised Ram for the remark, and reminded him how he was at the peak of his career when he was overweight. Some also mentioned how the actor has been courting controversy with his bizarre statements ever since he grabbed eyeballs with his drastic weightloss transformation.
“Has he considered the possibility that Smriti Irani, for all her flaws, is a better actor than he is?” a user questioned, while another wrote, “Ozempic has made him such a motor mouth. Earlier he was a decent actor and apparently decent man (sic).”
“Stop talking for your own good,” a netizen advised the actor, and another wrote, “Does this guy not know the art of shutting up?” “Omg someone shut him up. Ever since he lost that damn weight he’s been speaking all sorts of rubbish (sic),” an angry Redittor commented.
Ram Kapoor Mistry controversy
It was only a few days ago when Ram was banished from the promotions of his latest show, Mistry, after he made objectionable and sexual comments around the members of the show’s marketing team.
“I feel gang-raped by elephants,” he reportedly said during the promotional interviews. A marketing executive also revealed, “He told one of our male colleagues that his mother should have faked a headache and he shouldn’t have been born. He made references to sex positions.”
Ram later admitted to saying all that was reported and while apologising, added that he was his “bindass self” around the people he was comfortable with.
