Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): Markets are abuzz with activity ahead of the Rakshabandhan festival, which is falling on August 9. More than 100 rakhi shops have been decorated in the Freeganj area, where rakhis are available for adults and children alike. 

For the convenience of sisters, ready-made Rakshabandhan thalis are now available in the market. These contain a rakhi, a coconut, kumkum, rice, and a small plate. This thali is convenient for sisters coming from outside. There are also rakhi pairs for brother and sister-in-law in the shops. 

A trader who has been running a rakhi shop on Kamla Nehru Marg said he has ordered the latest rakhis from Kolkata and Jaipur. Those selling well include rakhi kits and combo packs for brother and sister-in-law. The price of the Rakshabandhan kit is Rs 300, and the brother-sister-in-law combo pack starts at Rs 120. The price of branded rakhis ranges from ₹120 to ₹500. Other traders said there is more demand for branded rakhis and chuda rakhi.

Muhurat between 6.15 am and 01.24 pm

The best muhurat for tying rakhis on the occasion of Rakshabandhan is from 6.15 am to 1.24 pm on August 9. During this time, there will be no shadow of Bhadra, which is considered auspicious for tying rakhi. According to astrologer Pt Ajay Vyas, this year, auspicious yogas like Saubhagya and Shobhan are being formed on Rakshabandhan, which makes it even more special. Along with this, Sarvarth Siddhi Saubhagya Yoga is also being formed, which is considered best for any auspicious work. 

Prep for 1.25 Lakh laddus begins

Like every year, 1.25 lakh laddus will be offered at Shri Mahakaleshwar temple on Rakshabandhan on August 9. It is later distributed among the visitors. Laddu-making started in the temple on Wednesday morning. This event is organised by the temple priest’s family.

This time, the laddus are being made by Pt Amar Pujari’s family. After the Bhatti Pujan, the work of making laddus started at the Abhishek Sthal situated below the peak darshan. These laddus are made from desi ghee, gram flour, and dry fruits. On the morning of Rakshabandhan, the priest’s family will tie a rakhi to Lord Mahakal and offer prasad. 

Special trains between Ujjain-Bhopal-Ujjain for Rakhi rush

To accommodate the extra rush of passengers at Ujjain and Sehore stations during the festive season, unreserved special trains will be operated in both directions between Ujjain and Bhopal from August 6 to 8. Train number 09317, Ujjain-Bhopal Special, will leave Ujjain at 1.15 pm till August 8 and reach Bhopal at 5.45 pm. Similarly, train number 09318 Bhopal-Ujjain Special will leave Bhopal at 9 pm till August 8 and reach Ujjain Railway Station at 1 am.
