YouTuber Apoorva Makhija who was part of the controversial YouTube show India’s Got Latent, has been dropped from the list of influencers who were selected to do treasure hunt shoots to promote tourism in Rajasthan.
The Rajasthan tourism department in its official communication has said that IIFA informed that the name of social media influencer Apoorva Makhija has been removed from the list of IIFA promoters. Now she is not officially included in the list of IIFA promoters.
YouTuber Apoorva Makhija was scheduled to come to Udaipur on February 20th for a treasure hunt shoot at Udaipur’s City Palace, Amarai Ghat and Pichola Lake with Actor Ali Fazal to promote tourism in Rajasthan.
The reasons for dropping Apoorva’s name have not been revealed, but the decision is being taken as an outfall of recent controversy
over the YouTube show India’s Got Latent and the threats of protest against the social media influencer.
A case was registered in Kota on February 13 against the influencers who were part of this show, while the Rajput Karni Sena had warned Apoorva not to enter Rajasthan.
Rajput Karni Sena division chief of Udaipur Dr. Paramveer Singh Dulwat said “these people are releasing such videos on social media to make themselves superstars. The Tourism Department is bringing them to the land of Mewar for shooting for IIFA Awards. The Tourism Department is bringing them to the land of Mewar which will not be tolerated. “
Notably, a series of treasure hunt shoots in 7 cities of Rajasthan have been scheduled in collaboration with IIFA to promote tourism in the state. Various social media influencers and film actors are part of these shoots which have commenced on February 7th.
