Hailing from a small village in Bihar, Kumar has risen to become one of the leading figures in global technology today. Coming from an ordinary family, Pushpendra’s journey to securing a prestigious position at one of the world’s leading tech companies, Google, midway through his studies, is inspirational. Pushpendra Kumar is the eldest son of Hariom Sharan from Budhikhand village in Jhajha block of Jamui district.
Pushpendra, after completing matriculation and intermediate, wanted to get admitted into prestigious institutions like IIT. He also had a dream of working with a big tech company like Google. This dream of his got fulfilled after he got a job opportunity from the American tech giant. Currently studying at IIT Kharagpur, Pushpendra has already been selected as a Data Scientist at Google, even before completing his course.
The news brought immense joy to the entire family. Securing a job at a prestigious company like Google was no less than a monumental achievement. Pushpendra returned to his village to meet his family, where his elderly grandmother and grandfather welcomed him by performing an aarti and celebrating his success with sweets.
Inspired by Friends
Pushpendra completed his early education in Jasidih, Jharkhand. He passed his intermediate in 2018. In an exclusive conversation with Bihar Tak, Pushpendra shared that he appeared for the IIT Joint Entrance Exam (IIT-JEE) after being inspired by his friends.
Although he couldn’t clear the exam on his first attempt, he didn’t lose hope and prepared again. On his second attempt, he succeeded. After clearing the IIT-JEE exam, he secured admission to IIT Kharagpur.
Rs 39 Lakhs Package
Pushpendra, in an interview, shared that Google is not his final destination and has bigger aspirations. He was escalated when he got the news of his selection at Google and called it the happiest day of his life. Pushpendra mentioned that he would initially work for Google in India, where he was offered a package of Rs 39 lakhs. He added that if the company sends him abroad in the future, his package will be four times higher than what he receives in India.
It is worth mentioning that earlier, Abhishek Kumar, also from Jhajha block in Jamui district, was selected by Google. Abhishek had previously worked at Amazon in Germany, from where Google hired him as a software developer with an annual package of ₹2 crore. Following this, Pushpendra has now been selected by Google as a data scientist.
