Chandigarh: Punjab Police on Thursday said it has arrested four persons, who were allegedly involved in cross-border arms smuggling, and recovered seven weapons from them.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the accused were in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers and received illegal weapon consignments near the India-Pakistan border for supplying to gangsters in the state.
Yadav said seven pistols, including PX5 9mm and Glock 9mm, have been recovered from them.
“An FIR under the Arms Act is registered at PS Chheharta, #Amritsar. Further investigation is underway to uncover the entire network and its linkages,” he said on X.
