Pune Zila Parishad has given students a chance to visit National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the United States and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in India to inspire young minds in rural areas. As part of an initiative to promote a scientific mindset, 40 students of Zila Parishad schools will visit ISRO and 25 will go to NASA.
The students will be selected through a test organized with the help of the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), an astronomy-focused organization.
The initiative was presented during a budget meeting by the Chief Executive Officer of Zila Parishad, Gajanan Patil. It aims to expose rural students to space technology and research, motivating them to pursue careers in science.
A special meeting will be held with IUCAA scientists to guide the curriculum for the selection test. The Zila Parishad also plans to develop 303 model schools in rural areas every year to improve education standards.
This program is a big step toward enhancing scientific knowledge among students in rural Pune, giving them opportunities in space research and technology.
