A video of a school principal, named Sayilatha, hitting female students in Vikarabad, Telangana has sparked outrage on social media. She rolled a book and slapped one of the girls. According to local media reports, she also insulted them with offensive slurs while calling them “thieves” after they tried stepping out of the school premises without permission.

The incident was reported from the Kottagudem Social Welfare Girls Residential School and College in Vikarabad. The education institute had made headlines for a suicide case in the last month. Engaging in more caution and scrutiny, the principal questioned the students’ action of leaving the school premises without permission. However, she expressed anger and violence to address the matter.

More details

In the video, the principal was seen repeatedly slapping a female student in front of two other girls. The student tried folding her hands and requesting her to not beat her, but the official didn’t show any sympathy. She charged at her and angrily condemned the students’ action of walking out without intimating teachers of school staff.

“What’s the reason of going out? You have no idea what you are doing”, the principal asked the students. Before they could express themselves, she started beating and abusing them.

Eyewitnesses were quoted in media reports that the principal used derogatory language and also referred to one girl as a “thief” with other offensive slurs. They pointed out that she also reported the matter to the concerned parents, further insulting them for the children’s actions.

Other news about this principal

News reports suggested that this wasn’t the first time the principal insulted others or engaged in physical assault. It was alleged that her rude and inconsiderate behaviour could have been the reason behind a student’s suicide earlier this year, who jumped from the top of this school building. In this case, Telangana Speaker Gaddam Prasad reprimanded the principal Sayilatha.
