In the early hours of February 16, 2025, the Bandra and Kherwadi police took swift action against motorcyclists dangerously racing on the Western Expressway, particularly around Bandra Reclamation and Kherwadi. The main control room of the Mumbai police, located in South Mumbai, received a call from a citizen reporting loud motorcycle sounds and stunts at Bandra. The Bandra and Kherwadi police swiftly responded, seizing a total of 52 motorcycles, 14 from Bandra and 38 from Kherwadi.
According to the police, police registered cases against 14 individuals at the Bandra Police Station under Sections 281 (Rash driving or riding on a public way), 125 (Act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code, along with Section 184 (Dangerous driving) of the Motor Vehicle Act. In Kherwadi, 38 individuals are facing charges under similar sections of the law.
The police have urged citizens to report any information regarding such racing activities by calling emergency numbers 100 and 112, or the helpline at 022-22641752. This incident highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curb illegal racing and ensure public safety on Mumbai’s roads. Meanwhile, the Bandra and Kherwadi police are frequently taking action against rash driving and individuals performing dangerous stunts in Bandra and the surrounding areas.
