New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the nation. “From tomorrow, the festival of Navratri is starting. I extend my best wishes to you. From the first day of Navratri, the country is taking an important step towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Tomorrow, on the first day of Navratri, Next-Generation GST reforms will come into effect with sunrise,” PM Modi said. “GST reforms will bring happiness to every family, will accelerate India’s growth story,” PM Modi added. In his address, PM Narendra Modi announced the ‘GST Bachat Utsav’ starting Sept 22, coinciding with Navratri, to boost savings and self-reliance. Key points: GST reforms simplify slabs to 5%, 18%, and 40% for demerit goods; rate cuts on essentials like food items (ghee, paneer, juices), medical supplies, and household goods to ease living and business. Aims to benefit common people, farmers, MSMEs, and economy.

The Prime Minister‘s last address to the nation was on May 12, 2025, when he briefed the people about Operation Sindoor, India’s counterstrike after the terror attack in Pahalgam.
