Mumbai, April 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to cut short his ongoing visit to Saudi Arabia and return to India tonight. This comes after growing security concerns in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly following the terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam. There are reports that PM Modi will return to India amid the security concerns in Jammu and Kashmir.

A terrorist attack jolted the country after 2-3 terrorists opened on tourists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam. Around 27 tourists, including foreign nationals were killed in the attack, while over a dozen tourists were reported injured in the incident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on learning about the attack and asked him to reach the scene. Amit Shah reached Srinagar and reviewed the security arrangements in the region.

A high-level meeting was convened in Srinagar at the Raj Bhavan, where Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha briefed Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the situation and further course of action in connection with the tragic incident.

Prime Minister Modi’s decision to cut his visit short reflects the gravity of the situation and he is expected to return to India promptly to oversee further actions in the region.

World leaders condemned the attack and extended support to India. Russia President extended his support and heartfelt condolences to Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the devastating terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance also condemned the attack. Donald Trump said, “Deeply disturbing news out of Kashmir. The United States stands strong with India against Terrorism. We pray for the souls of those lost, and for the recovery of the injured. Prime Minister Modi, and the incredible people of India, have our full support and deepest sympathies. Our hearts are with you all!”

JD Vance also condemned the attack and said, “Usha and I extend our condolences to the victims of the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India. Over the past few days, we have been overcome with the beauty of this country and its people. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they mourn this horrific attack.”
