While US tariff on Indian exports to continue, the both sides are advancing with the much-anticipated trade deal. Amid this, PM Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with President Donald Trump.

PM Modi posted on X, “Had a very warm and engaging conversation with President Trump. We reviewed the progress in our bilateral relations and discussed regional and international developments. India and the U.S. will continue to work together for global peace, stability and prosperity.”

As per a statement issued by the PMO, the two leaders reviewed the progress in the India-U.S. Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. They also expressed satisfaction at the steady strengthening of bilateral cooperation across all domains, and underlined the importance of sustaining momentum in shared efforts to enhance bilateral trade.

During the call, PM Modi and President Trump also exchanged views on expanding cooperation in critical technologies, energy, defence and security, and other priority areas that are central to the implementation of the India–U.S. COMPACT (Catalyzing Opportunities for Military Partnership, Accelerated Commerce & Technology) for the 21st century.

They further discussed various regional and global developments and agreed to work closely to address shared challenges and advance common interests. PM Modi and President Trump agreed to remain in touch.

The conversation with Trump comes a day after PM Modi had a similar telephonic conversation with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday. During the call made by Netanyahu, both leaders expressed satisfaction at the continued momentum in India-Israel Strategic Partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening these ties for mutual benefit. They also strongly condemned terrorism and reiterated their zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
