PM Modi expresses grave concern over Ukraine's drone attack on Putin's residence

PM Modi has expressed deep concerns over reports of drone attacks at the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin in Novgorod. In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Deeply concerned by reports of the targeting of the residence of the President of the Russian Federation. Ongoing diplomatic efforts offer the most viable path toward ending hostilities and achieving peace.”

US President Donald Trump has also condemned the incident. Speaking to media persons, Trump stated that he was informed by the attacks by President Putin himself and he thinks the attack on Putin’s residence is unacceptable while peace efforts are ongoing.

“I stopped the Tomahawks. It is not good. It is one thing to be offensive, because they are offensive. It is another thing to attack his house, ” Trump told reporters.

Apart from the Indian and US governments, the government of the UAE has also condemned the attack on Vladimir Putin’s residence.

On December 29, Russian foreign minister Lavrov informed that Ukraine launched 91 long-range drones on December 28-29 targeting President Putin’s official residence at Novgorod, all intercepted with no damage. He added that the attacks will result in Russia’s changed stance on the ongoing talks with Ukraine.

“Such Reckless Actions Will Not Go Unanswered. All of the drones sent to attack the state residence of the President in the Novgorod region were shot down by air defences. Despite the attack taking place during negotiations with the US to resolve the conflict, Moscow does not intend to withdraw from the talks”, Lavrov had told the media.

Ukraine has flat denied the attacks, with Zelenskyy claiming that they are ‘complete fabrication’.
