The investigation by the NIA revealed that the accused conspired with self-proclaimed office-bearers of Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT) to propagate the organization’s ideology.
New Delhi: An exhibition was organised by the terrorists of Hizb ut-Tahrir to display the military power of Islamic countries. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet where it has alleged that the members of Hizb ut-Tahrir called upon to overthrow the legally established government in India through violent jihad and war.
On Monday, the agency filed a supplementary charge sheet before a special NIA court. The chargesheet named Abdul Rahman and Mujibur Rahman under various sections of the UAPA for conspiring and preparing to carry out terrorist acts to promote the ideology of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Tamil Nadu and other locations.
Both were arrested by the NIA in June this year.
Plot To Impose Sharia Law:
The investigation by the NIA revealed that the accused conspired with self-proclaimed office-bearers of Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT) to propagate the organization’s ideology. The main motive of the organisation was to establish an Islamic caliphate in India and implement the Sharia-based draft constitution written by HuT’s founder, Taqi al-Din al-Nabhani.
The accused were actively involved in recruiting darisees (students) for secret classes conducted by Hizb ut-Tahrir. The accused also conducted ‘Bayaan’ (religious demonstration) sessions. Additionally, several short films were produced by them to propagate the organization’s anti-India ideology on social media.
Sleeper Cells in UP, Tamil Nadu, and 4 Other States
Hizb ut-Tahrir, the terrorist group, has a presence in different Western countries, including the UK. To recall, the organisation was banned last October following street protests in support of Palestine, during which it praised Hamas’s actions in Israel.
After sleeper cells of this group emerged in Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh, India recently filed charges against it under the UAPA.
