Petition Demands Monitoring Of UCC Waste Incineration
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A petition has been filed in National Green Tribunal demanding monitoring of incineration of UCC chemical waste at Pithampur in Dhar district by an independent body like National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI).
Nagrik Upbhokta Manch activist P Najpande has filed a petition in NGT. As part of undertaking, the state government has said that any question raised by any organisation or individual with regard to potential health and environmental hazard during incineration will be answered by scientists.
But despite this undertaking, the questions raised by people have not been properly addressed by scientist and subject experts. As a result, residents of Pithampur in Dhar district are worried about potential health and environment hazard. Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board has also not published and given correct data of chemical reaction during incineration.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In a major anti-encroachment drive, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) cleared illegal structures in New Market on Sunday following escalating tension between traders. The action came after a recent dispute that led to violent altercation and protests by Bajrang Dal outside TT Nagar police station, demanding strict legal measures.
Acting on district administration’s orders, TT Nagar SDM Archna Rawat Sharma directed BMC and the Electricity Department to remove all unauthorised structures and cut power supply to encroaching shops within two days.
A startling revelation during the operation was the illegal encroachment of a police outpost by shop owners, which was immediately cleared. Despite the upcoming festival season, Sharma said that the anti-encroachment drive will continue throughout the month to ensure free movement in the commercial hub.
To maintain long-term enforcement, Sharma plans to request BMC to rebuild an anti-encroachment team for TT Nagar, ensuring that New Market remains free from illegal occupations. The drive is expected to provide relief to both shoppers and traders.
