Panvel: Marking World Environment Day and the ongoing Majhi Vasundhara campaign, Panvel Municipal Corporation organized a unique and innovative event titled ‘The Cycle Assembly’ on Thursday. Held at the Adya Krantiveer Vasudev Balwant Phadke Auditorium.

The highlight of the program was a special discussion session on “The Importance of Cycling for the Environment”. Representatives from over ten cycling groups participated and were felicitated with mementos in recognition of their contribution to promoting sustainable transport.

” The initiative aimed to highlight cycling as a healthy lifestyle choice and an effective, eco-friendly alternative to motorized transport—helping reduce pollution and traffic congestion,” said an official.

The event part of a broader awareness campaign by the civic administration is aimed to encourage citizens to adopt greener, more sustainable modes of transport.

Informative discussions were held on topics such as environmental protection, sustainable living, and green mobility. Attendees also explored the many benefits of cycling, including improved physical fitness, reduced mental stress, fuel conservation, environmental protection, and cost savings.

The Cycle Assembly reinforced the message that cycling is not just a means of transport, but a step toward a healthier, cleaner, and more sustainable future. Assistant Commissioner Shriram Pawar, Environment Department Head Prafull Gharat, and other municipal officials and staff were present for the event.
