The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated strict actions against establishments that have failed to pay property taxes.  Notices and warrants have been issued to property tax defaulters, and confiscation actions have also commenced. The establishments with significant outstanding property tax dues are now under the radar, and confiscation actions will be carried out in the coming days.

Approximately 350,000 properties across all four wards of the municipal area have been assessed for property tax. “ The defaulters who owe more property tax are being served pre-confiscation notices and warrants by the confiscation team.,” informed an official.

So far, a total of 447 pre-confiscation notices have been distributed, and 27 warrants have been issued across all four wards.

As of this financial year, Rs 326 crore has been collected since April. “Property tax is the sole financial resource for the municipal corporation, The officers are directed to encourage property owners under their jurisdiction to make prompt property tax payments and cooperate with the municipal corporation. It has been emphasized that confiscation and attachment actions will be taken against defaulters who do not clear their dues,” said an official.

Property tax is the main source of funding for all proposed projects by the municipal corporation. As penalties on unpaid property taxes increase by 2% per month, the municipal corporation urges citizens to pay their property taxes. To facilitate payments, the PMC has developed the PMC TAX APP mobile application for online tax payments. Citizens can also visit www.panvelmc.org to pay their taxes online.
