Palghar MP Dr. Hemant Savra |

Palghar, Maharashtra: In the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament, Dr. Hemant Savra, the Member of Parliament for Palghar, expressed his appreciation for the initiatives and schemes by both the central and state governments aimed at the development of the Palghar district. He extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for their continued support. Dr. Savra confidently stated that the growing connectivity in Palghar would lead to the creation of one million jobs, positioning the district as one of the fastest-developing regions in the country.

‘Bill of Lading’ to Benefit Ports and Fishermen

Dr. Savra also took part in discussions regarding the newly introduced ‘Bill of Lading’ law, which he believes will significantly benefit the country’s ports and the fishing community. He praised the law for its potential in boosting maritime trade, particularly in improving the functionality of the Vasai Port. The MP also acknowledged the efforts of Union Minister for Port Development, Sarbananda Sonowal, in pushing forward the Vasai port project.

Infrastructure Developments to Enhance Palghar’s Connectivity

Highlighting the extensive infrastructure projects in the region, Dr. Savra pointed out key developments such as the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Expressway, the Delhi-Mumbai Corridor, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train, and the Mumbai-Delhi Highway. These projects, along with the Nashik-Palghar railway and new expressways, are expected to significantly enhance Palghar’s connectivity and transform the district into a transportation hub.

Global Export Opportunities for Palghar’s Products

Dr. Savra emphasized that agricultural, industrial, and marine products from Palghar would now have easier access to international markets. He mentioned that products like chikoo (sapodilla), coconuts, flowers, fish, and other industrial goods would soon be exported globally. The MP also mentioned the decision by Chief Minister Fadnavis to establish Palghar as the ‘Fourth Mumbai,’ a move that would contribute to rapid development in the district.

Vasai Port to Drive Economic Growth and Job Creation

Discussing the economic impact of the Vasai Port and related industrial projects, Dr. Savra estimated that these initiatives would generate around one million new jobs, boosting urbanization and economic activity in Palghar. He noted that opposition to the Vasai Port project had subsided, and the government was actively engaging with fishermen, a positive development for all parties involved. He emphasized that the port, as the largest in India, would greatly enhance export capacities and elevate Palghar’s prominence on the global trade map.

Infrastructure and Fishermen Support Needed for Growth

Dr. Savra also highlighted the need for the construction of jetties and suggested the introduction of ‘soft loans’ to support the local fishing community. He recommended the installation of GPS systems on fishing boats to assist during emergencies and called for policies to strengthen fishermen’s cooperatives. The MP concluded that with the right infrastructure and support, the new “Bill of Lading” law would deliver significant benefits to both the port sector and fishermen.
